Powder / Ombre Brows
(For most recent work, please check out Mary-Leigh’s Instagram page @pmubymaryleigh )
Mary-Leigh finds that powder brows or ombre powder brows work the best for everyone’s skin type, and hold up the best over time. (Ombre brows are when there is a gradient where the shading gets lighter toward the front of the brow, where as full powder brows are uniformly shaded throughout the whole brow)
While hairstrokes done by machine or microblading can look beautiful and crisp when they are first done, they typically do not hold up as well over time as they age. As the strokes heal the lines expand slightly, and depending on your skin, this can lead to a spotty or blurred looking healed result.
Microblading can even cause scar tissue from being done too often or improperly.
Mary-Leigh does a lot of cover ups of microblading done by artists from other studios because clients are rarely happy with their results long term.
Powder brows look bold when they are freshly done, but heal beautiful and soft, mimicking brow makeup.
Powder brows also typically cause less pain and trauma to the skin than microblading,
and yield better looking result as they age.
*Occasionally machine hairstrokes can be utilized in the front of the brow only for more of a "combination" brow look.*
